Someone Died Today
———————————
I had to take paper & pen
The sorrow, it bothered me,
again & again.

What words would I use?
Honestly, what more could I say?
See, in my building complex?…

Someone died today.

I didn’t know him too well,
just hi’s and byes.
I didn’t like him too much, as he constantly gave
his wife swollen & distorted features, complimented
with black-eyes.

I had stopped telling him hello,
The sight of his wife, mother of his children,
simply made me sigh.

Women stay with these men,
fully laden with children.
Yet you can see, they’re dead inside.

His wife got a shoulder wound,
she came out the best.
He was felled, with 4 bullets to his chest.

Some may ask why?
Well, honestly, he wasn’t a nice guy.
But he was a life, I wonder who cried?

Was this his fate? Because karma is real.
No more beatings…I wonder how she feels?
Police, sirens, ambulance, screeching of wheels…

I took pen to paper,
for I simply had to say,
Right where I live? Someone died today.

*I tried not to think about it, but it was difficult. So as a Poetess should, I put it in prose.
