Over this weekend, Agogomanhene Nana Kwame Akuoku Sarpong, Chiefs, Queen Mothers and respected Elders of the Agogo Traditional Area again experienced a successful and remarkable Golden Plantain Festival.

In attendance was the Minister of Food and Agriculture, the Honourable Owusu Afriyie Akoto, the Ambassador of Burkina Faso, and other dignitaries gracing the noble event.

Asante Akim Agogo is well noted as one of the leading plantain producers in Ghana, and due to its high production rate, Agogo has the opportunity to export plantain to neighboring countries (Togo and Burkina Faso). The export to these countries started in the year of 2015, increasing through the year of 2017.

The underlying result of this agri-scheme is the measurement of approximately 126,224 metric tons of plantain having been exported to these two countries since 2015 to date; soon to be linked to additional African Countries through the AfCFTA (African Continental Free Trade Area), and hopefully to be so to the European Union as well.
