🌹✒WHAT WOULD WE DO WITHOUT TEACHERS?✒🌹

My favorite teacher was my elementary school teacher, Ms. Bishop. I attended Public School 316, Elijah J. Stroud (on Classon Avenue) – Kindergarten to 6th grade. It was the early 1980’s and the principal at the time was Mr. Jenkins. I remember, sneaking to look at him, whenever possible (which was often – my mouth & temper always had me in his office, lol!). He amazed me, seeing a Black man in charge, well- dressed, educated, articulate, hard working, and caring for children. He was firm, but good-hearted, and fair. He was the principal, but taught me, that there was more to our men than we think.

But my 6th grade teacher, Ms. Bishop, was a former ballet Dancer, and STRICT! She accepted no less, and pushed you to strive for your best. I remember her saying to me once, “It’s a dog eat dog world out there, so you better buck-up.” Ms. Bishop also made you feel like the world, when you accomplished your goals. She made learning AMAZING & taught us how to compete and win. So a special thanks to her & to all the good teachers out there, doing the work.
