As we’re all going through the affects of COVID-19, we need to find something to do. Although staying informed is important, too much news can rot your brain cells. Not to mention, depress the heck out of you.
There’s so many things one can find to do at home, but here a few simple suggestions…
📱🙋🏾♀️Call People Up, Just Because🙋🏾♀️📱
See how others are doing. Video chatting is phenomenal. I for one derive great joy, when I hear a unison of “Hi-i-i Grandma-a-a!”😍 followed by bright eyes & wide smiles, that peer at me through my phone. It’s not better than seeing your loved ones in person, but it sure helps.
It’s also stressful & psychologically draining to be lockdown & or quarantined. People become fearful. We have to try & remember that these feelings are normal under the circumstances. It’s best to try and remain calm & keep your wits about you. But it’s okay to cry or be afraid. Speak with others about it if possible. Just don’t get lost in it.❣
🤓Learn Something New or Do What You’ve Put Off For Awhile🤓
Make online your friend if you haven’t already. You can also get a Penpal. And why not? So many of us are already home & could use someone to talk to. This is a perfect time to learn or brush-up on another language. Not to forget all our DIY-ers out there. It’s a great time to get to that project you never have time to get around to doing.👍🏾

It’s free (unless you want certification), helps pass the time & incorporates knowledge. But there’s a lot of free/paid courses one can look into. Take a moment to look what your state has to offer. I took a free Food Handlers course a few days ago, online. It was 2 hours & worth it, as I always wanted to do it, but couldn’t find the time.
Udemy is offering free courses as well. I say take advantage of it while it lasts😉
👩🏾🏫We’re the Teachers👨🏼🏫
Many have taken on the role of Teachers with our children. It’s not easy – have you seen the new mathematics kids are doing today? WTH 🤷🏾♀️ But as parents, we have to help our children to learn & to help themselves. Thankfully there’s a lot of help out there. Don’t be afraid to reach out to other parents. Form a parents group to assist one another. Remember, we’re their 1st Teachers in life. We got this!😊
This is also a great moment to reconnect & restrengthen the bond with our children. Normally you’re away from one another for most of the day. Utilize this time to also have some fun with your children. Play games, cook, sing, dance, you name it, but do it together. ❣

This maybe a gaming heaven for you all right now, lol! Have fun with it. Just remember to get up, stretch & do something else for a moment, other than running to the bathroom or grabbing a quick snack😉. Take a moment to breathe & relax. Game On!
📒Try Keeping A Journal.📒
It’ll be amazing to look back on where you were, when. It may also improve your writing skills. As many already know, writing can also be very therapeutic. It’s also as personal as you want it to be. Give it a try.🙂
🍴🍳Cooking Is Fun🍳🍴
Now is a great time to try new, fun & yummy things in the kitchen. Don’t waste food trying difficult things that may not come out well. Stick to simple & quick recipes. As we know, YouTube is GREAT for that. You’d be shocked to learn how quickly you can throw a meal together, with the simplest of ingredients.

It’s a perfect time to write poetry, novels, stories & music. Some may even choose to work on their memoirs😃. Go for it!

Have a lot of time on your hands? Are you feeling stressed out & boxed in? Then try some Yoga & Meditation. Some of the Meditation Music is so relaxing, that don’t be surprised if you fall asleep, lol! But it’s very calming. Play the music even with children. It can’t hurt! 😉
😴Rest Is Needed😴
Rest is sooo needed. Many of us live such busy & stressful lives. These are ingredients for your body to run down & even weaken your immune system. So don’t feel guilty over the new body indentation in the couch or mattress. Take this time to catch-up on some well needed sleep.
Sadly, many have lost their jobs or in employment limbo. Make sure to look into unemployment benefits within your state, with your local Department of Labor.
The entrepreneurial wave “Work At/From Home”, is key for many. It’s been around for sometime. But due to COVID-19, it’s under a huge spotlight. Now this isn’t an easy transition for all, but we should not only pay attention to it, but try our best to incorporate in our lives. Even when things change & people eventually return to working outside the home again, being able to work out of your home, can be used to your advantage. Tap into your skills, gifts & talents. See how that maybe incorporated into a possible business. This way “Work”, won’t seem like work at all. It’ll also be great preparation and or back-up plan, just in case COVID-19 lasts longer or if anything else in the future puts us in this or a similar position. My mother raised me with the saying “Nothing beats a man with a plan.” Now we can’t plan for everything, but it doesn’t hurt to be prepared.

Dancing, playing music & exercises are all linked together as fun and healthy activities. Learn a song and be mindful of your neighbors😉You don’t have to follow anyone’s anything. Simply engage and do YOU. Let loose & have some fun! 👍🏾
What better time to catch-up on our reading than now? Dust those books off, sign-up for Amazon Kindle, or simply Google for some free reading material. So try your best to take full advantage of it.
To our Pet-People, this is a great time to get some extra pet bonding in. By now, our pets get that we’re home. Have fun with the extra love our pets are sharing. Many people are blogging and or sharing their Pet-scapades on social media. It’s uplifting & crazy fun! Keep in mind, that once many of us return to work eventually, our pets may go through withdrawal & depression. They got used to us being there. So be prepared to retrain them and have patience. But have fun with our pet friends.
🌲If You Can…🌲
If you have a backyard, patio, or even step outside your front door (use a mask if you’re not alone or people happen by), try and get some fresh air and a little sun on your face. I personally go outside (as I reside on the ground floor), take a few deep breaths, blink up at the sun for a few minutes, then go back in,
because I don’t have an actual backyard, porch, balcony nor patio (beyond those trees are buildings). But it helps shake off cabin fever & assists the lungs. Not to mention the natural Vitamin D from the Sun.
There’s a myriad of things that we can all find to do, to keep us busy, occupied or distracted from the chaos. Before, during & after COVID-19, we still have to live. Even though we’re self-distancing don’t forget one of our favorite sayings,

Life at times can be soooo stressful. As human beings, we should take time-out to destress and realign ourselves.
There are a variety of ways in which to Meditate. Personally, I choose Zen/Meditation Music. I love music, Nature & certain sounds resonate deeply with me. Now I don’t like all Zen/Meditation Music. Some sound like wailing banshees😅! So, I find what I like & works for me & fill-up my YouTube playlist.
I’ve had many say, “Max, Meditation doesn’t work for me!” I say what does one go into Meditation expecting? Maybe to become magically enlightened & float off into oblivion???
Lol, that may not occur physically in this lifetime! But mentally it’s happening.
Some simply fall asleep & swear nothing worked or changed. Really? Do you know what occurs within the body when at complete rest? HEALING on so many levels. We need rest in order to recharge and to bring clarity. So if the most you get out of Meditation is a good nap? What’s wrong with that?🤷🏾♀️

Life can at times, be very STRESSFUL. There are many ways in which to shake it off & jump back on the proverbial saddle. However, I personally take pleasure in Meditation. It’s easy, simplistic, soothing, and quite convenient to say the least.
One may say, “Max, I don’t know how to Meditate!” I say you’re giving it too much thought, lol! You can Meditate to anything that gives you a moment to calm down, relax, refocus, breathe & recharge. I simply rather use Meditation/Zen Music, along with my diffuser – mixed with *essential oils. It’s such a more pleasant, soothing & nurturing experience.
I used to have a very uncontrollable temper. I learned how to control it by soothing myself, keeping my state of mind calm, focused & rational. Meditating does wonders! #JustTryIt

“I had the pleasure of welcoming a Great-Nephew over the weekend – one of my Nephew’s 1st child & Son, talking with my Stepmother, chatted with my baby Sister, I talk with my oldest Sister EVERYDAY- poor ting 😅, tried to play Fort Night with another Nephew – Okay I lied. I gave it zero effort. I don’t like video games🤷🏾♀️. But I had fun watching my Nephews enthusiasm (he’s 12), I had to speak with my Bestie whose more like a Sister to me, avoided unnecessary negativity – seemed to be coming from the oddest directions, but I refused to feed into it’s directional existence, lol!
